Rekon is a Belgium Mallinois specially trained for Law Enforcement applications. He was born on September 14, 2015. He has been working for the Shawano County since December 2016. Rekon went to school and has mastered the art of tracking and narcotic detection. When he is not at work, Rekon is a playful dog with lots of energy. At work, Rekon responds to the commands of Deputy Rekoske. Rekon is rewarded by being given his favorite toy, a yellow tug when he finds narcotics or obeys a difficult command.
Rekon helps the community by locating people that may be missing, performing “sniffs” at school lockers keeping drugs out of school and protecting his handler as well as other members of law enforcement.
Rekon also locates narcotics that may be moving through Shawano County and helps locate and apprehend local members of the community involved in drug use, sales and manufacturing. He has been called numerous times to assist both Shawano Police Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies that have pulled over vehicles to detect drug odor that humans may not be able to detect.
